Information for Funeral Directors

Who I am

I am Kimberley Jones, a Funeral Celebrant, specialising in
non-religious and humanist ceremonies. I have been conducting funeral ceremonies across Cardiff and South Wales since 2021, and have supported hundreds of families.

Every ceremony I officiate is written with the person as the primary focus.

My aim is always that the family feel supported and that those in attendance leave feeling the service genuinely reflected the person who has died.

Area covered

I am based in St Fagans, Cardiff, and cover the following areas as standard:

–  Cardiff & Vale of Glamorgan

–  Newport & surrounding areas

–  Caerphilly & Sirhowy

–  Bridgend

–  Pontypridd & Rhondda Cynon Taf

– The Valleys

– M4 corridor, further travel considered on request

Kimberley helped us to provide the most beautiful, personal and loving tribute imaginable. Her kindness, patience and sensitivity shines through and I cannot thank her enough for the time she spent with us to arrange the eulogy and the way in which it was delivered. I would not hesitate to recommend her.
— Julie Dutton, Thornhill Crematorium, September 2024

How I work with funeral directors

Notice required

I ask for as much notice as possible, but I understand that circumstances do not always allow this. Please contact me even for short-notice requests. I will always let you know promptly if I am available.

Response time

I aim to respond to all enquiries within a few hours during work hours. If you call and I am unavailable, I will return your call the same day.

The family meeting

Once instructed, I make contact with the family directly to arrange a face-to-face meeting. Very occasionally, these may take place on the phone or virtually, but only on the family’s request. I maintain appropriate contact with the family throughout.

Script provided in advance

I always share the ceremony script with the family in advance. They know exactly what to expect and can request changes if needed. This ensures there are no surprises on the day.

Running Order in plenty of time

As soon as the running order is confirmed, you will receive this in a clear and timely manner. I am happy to proof Order of Service booklets.

On the day

I arrive early, introduce myself to the team and chapel attendant, and ensure all details are correct.

I understand and appreciate that each Funeral Director has a slightly different approach when it comes to things like bowing on entry/exit, paging/walking in front of the hearse, and general chapel protocol.

I liaise with the Funeral Director to ensure everything looks consistent and professional on the day, adhering to the funeral home’s preferred approach.

I always run to time and aim to make the day as straightforward as possible for you and as meaningful as possible for the family.

Payment

I am happy to receive cheque or BACs payment.

After the ceremony

I provide the family with a digital copy of the ceremony, which many find comforting to keep.

We had the pleasure of Kimberley for our service to celebrate my dads life in June. Kimberley met us all to get an idea of how dad was and created a beautiful service. A lot of people commented on how good it was. Kimberley was fantastic in keeping us updated and provided us with her words before the service.
— Leighton Jones, Cardiff and Glamorgan Crematorium, June 2024

Fee

My standard fee for a funeral ceremony is £220, for a “single” slot

For “double” slots, or services that take place over two locations i.e. service, followed by a burial, my fee is £250.

What families have said

You are welcome to read my full reviews on Google by searching “Kimberley Jones celebrant” or clicking this link.

Accreditation & Public Liability Insurance

I am an accredited member of Humanist Ceremonies UK, the network of celebrants trained by Humanists UK to deliver non-religious ceremonies. I hold full public liability insurance.

Including Religious Content

I do not mind if a family wish to include a hymn, for cultural reasons or because the individual enjoyed it.

Similarly, they may include a poem with religious connotations, though they will need to arrange for someone to read this on their behalf.

I will not lead an act of worship.

I needed to leave a review of Humanist Kimberley Jones. She managed to turn what was the saddest day into one that was very uplifting. Her words made us laugh and cry as we were laying my beloved husband to rest. So many people commented on what a beautiful service it was.

I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Kimberley as an outstanding, compassionate and professional celebrant. Do not hesitate to contact her for any occasion that requires a celebrant. Thank you so much Kimberley.

Kimberley came highly recommended, and within 5 minutes of meeting her, it was clear why.
She connected with my family immediately, following a sudden parental loss. She helped us formulate a personal send-off for a beloved father, and made the difficult period a little more bearable.
Her words, actions and presentational skills on the day - and in the days beforehand whilst preparing - made everything a little smoother.
I can highly commend Kimberley - as a person you’ll like, as a professional who can help you, and as gentle helper as you navigate your journey.
Thank you Kimberley. We loved you being part of our family for a short while.

Kimberley kindly supported us through a difficult time after the death of a very cherished friend. Throughout this process Kimberley showed care, gentleness and compassion and this made such a difference at this very challenging time. The funeral was one of peace and calm, sharing beautiful memories and Kimberley gave all aspects of the service every care, thought and attention. Kimberley can be very much trusted to steer families throughout these life moments and her humility and grace added to what was a special, beautiful day. Thank you so much.

We wanted to send our thanks and appreciation for the very professional, compassionate and empathetic way in which you conducted both the preparations for, and Rachel’s actual funeral. We really appreciated the time you gave to us and to get to know Rachel, which meant that the service was very fitting for her.

So many people told us how beautiful and meaningful the service was and we feel that no other celebrant could have done it better!

Everyone that played a part in the service appreciated you being in contact with them in advance and every one of them said how kind you were to them.

We have absolutely no hesitation in recommending you.
— Tony Draper, Thornhill Crematorium, March 2024

If you would like to add me to your list of celebrants, have a question, or simply want to introduce yourself, I would be glad to hear from you. I am equally happy to meet for a coffee if that suits you better.
